- A very exciting music theatre event for 2009 ‘An Evening with Patti
Lupone and Mandy Patinkin’ was announced this week. These huge Broadway
stars are making the Journey to Oz this year. Performing in Brisbane,
Melbourne and Sydney for 3 performances only! Tickets for the Brisbane
concert go on Sale March 16 and for Melbourne and Sydney, March 30. For

- A changed West Side story returns to a Changed New York. This
Thursday the first Broadway revival of “West Side Story” in nearly
three decades opens at the Palace Theater. Clearly the worlds inside
and outside the theater are vastly different from when Tony just met a
girl named Maria more than 50 years ago, Broadway at Bedtime is looks
forward to hearing more about what will surely be the revival of 2009.
- Next Month Melbourne Group Magnormous will be workshopping the new Australian musical, Flowerchildren. Written by Peter Fitzpatrick, flower Children is the story of legendary vocal group: The Mama’s and the Pappa’s. The confirmed cast for this original musical includes Matt Hetherington, Laura Fitzpatrick, Paul Watson and Katrina Wellins. 3 more roles are being auditoned shortly.
- Start spreading the News and prepare your team for the next Magnormous Music Theatre trivia night. Monday 6th of April at the new Capers, Hawthorn. Have you written a musical? Get your musical from the page to the stage, Submit your original musical into OzMade Musicals 2009. Submissions must be unperformed, re-hearsal ready works of musical theatre, written by Australians, submissions close May 1st 2009.
- Speaking of Original Australian productions: Premiering in Sydney soon is Breast Wishes Written by Merridy Eastman, Jonathan Gavin, Richard Glover, Wendy Harmer, Sheridan Jobbins, James Millar and Debra Oswald, with Music and Lyrics Bruce Brown. BREAST WISHES is an uplifting new Australian musical about life, love, loss and silicon. The World Premiere will be presented at the Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre on 16 April playing until 2 May before embarking on a national tour.
- Staying with the Australian talent, two of our most talnted singers Tenor David Hobson and Baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes are currently touring Australia. Fresh from the release of their first album together for the ABC, this Duet set to land in Melbourne this week with a one night only performance at the Arts Centre, Hamer Hall March 17th.
- GuttenBurg the Musical opens in Melbourne at Chapel off Chapel This week, Saturday march 21st. Directed by Neil Gooding and Starring David Harris and James Millar. With four shows only make sure you don’t miss out.

- The Butterfly club is Turning 10! Melbourne’s home of Cabaret the butterfly club is turning 10 next month, stay tunned to Broadway at bedtime to hear more details of what will surely be a very mature 10th birthday party.
- Every Little step, is a Documentary on the making of Broadways revival of A CHORUS LINE. IT is set to open in cinemas May this year, coinciding with the launch of the shows national tour. A Chorus Line producer John Breglio is one of the producers of the forthcoming film, four minutes of which were recently screened at the Canne Film Festival to rave reviews. The documentary's co-directors are James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo. Production of "Every Little Step" began in summer 2005 and captured the auditions of 1,700 actors-singers-dancers it includes interviews, behind the scenes and footage of the audition process, rehearsals and of course, the show.
- Lastly Melbourne’s Premier performing Arts program: Broadway at Bedtime is thrilled to announce a new LIVE TO AIR initiative. Broadway at Bedtime’s BIG BREAK. An opportunity for all Music Theatre or Cabaret singers, composers, music theatre writers who want their works to be heard. Broadway at Bedtime’s BIG BREAK will happen on the First Sunday of every month, stay tunned for more details.
